Silken Fog Lacy Stole
This stole is knitted as one piece, using a Russian folklore theme and Orenburg-style lace elements and patterns, including Diagonals (Kosoryadki, in Russian), Peas (Goroh), Flies (Mushki), Spiders (Pauchki), and Beaded Way (Bisernaya Dorozhka), which creates a diamond shape). The center of the stole contains Beaded Way and Spiders, and a frame made of a single chain of Peas; the border is a single row of diagonals in which Flies create sprig motifs. A chain of Peas borders the stole. The design is called “entire” or “allover.” The stole is reversible and is quite easy to knit (you only knit, knit two or three together, and yarn over).
I named this stole after the beautiful Treenway Silks yarn that I used. The finished stole weighs 100 grams (3.5 oz). Silken Fog skeins average between 90 and 110 grams (3.2 and 3.0 oz), with the average being 95 grams (3.4 oz). The Materials box indicates two skeins, but with a slightly heavier skein, only one will be needed.
Enjoy your knitting!
