Sidewinder
Columns of knits decorated with purl dots slither across these socks, like tracks left in the sand by a sidewinder snake. Columns of purls create ribbing that ensures a snug and comfy fit.
Knit from the top down, the Sidewinder socks begin with twisted-stitch ribbing that slowly changes into the main Sidewinder stitch pattern. The flap-and-gusset heels make use of the Eye of Partridge slip-stitch pattern, while the Sidewinder patterning continues down the instep. The socks end with round toes that do not require any grafting.
This sock pattern presents its Sidewinder stitch pattern in written form, in the form of traditional grid-based charts, and as grid-free “stitch maps.” Visit Stitch-Maps.com for more information on stitch maps.
