Short Rows Pillbox Hat
From the Pattern Introduction: (The cap) is knitted sideways in alternate bands of stockinette and reverse stockinette, with short rows for shaping. The garter stitch band is doubled to serve as a casing for elastic, which keeps the hat from stretching out.
Notes on Yarn: The listed yarn (1000 yds/lb., 12 wraps/inch) is to be used doubled, so the pattern is essentially for a bulky weight yarn.
Needles: A set of 16 inch straight needles and a set of DPN’s both in US 8 are recommended.
Publication date: 1987
Pattern is on page 37 with a picture on page 38.
