What is the Shawldigan? Shawl + cardigan, of course! By adding buttons, you will always have a “shawl pin,” use the stitch spaces as button holes to wear like a cocoon cardigan, or wrap the wings across your body and then button like a poncho that won’t fly open. It can be worn as a traditional triangle shawl, or wrapped across you shoulders like an oversized scarf.
Use any worsted weight yarn in two or more colors. It is best to use a solid color yarn for the crossed extended double crochet stitches to show off the texture and space. What is a crossed extended double crochet? Check out this picture tutorial here
The completed size will fit an average sized woman of varying heights. Instructions are provided on how to shorten or lengthen the shawl, but it does not include the yarn amount should you change the size.
Gauge is based on the wingspan, one corner to the other corner across the top, and the length, measured from the center to the center of the point.
