“The socks are straightforward to knit, though you’ll need to work a crochet edging and feel confident to make a knitted trim for the mouth and teeth. So while they’re not a project for beginners, they’ll be well within the reach of intermediate
knitters, and well worth the effort.”
-Fiona Goble, Knitted Animal Socks and Hats

The recommended yarn is suggested to be Grey #8509, and you will need 1(2) skeins to make the S(M) pair. In addition, you will need a small amount of light worsted (DK) yarn in white to construct the teeth of the sharks.

As to materials, you will require:

  • A pair of 4mm knitting needles
  • A set of 4 4mm double-pointed knitting needles (dpns)
  • 4mm crochet or similar size
  • Stitch holder
  • Stitch marker
  • Yarn sewing needle
  • Large-eyed embroidery needle
  • 4 x 3/8” (10mm) shiny black shank buttons for the sharks’ eyes
