“Shai-Hulud” is the name given to the giant sandworms of Arakis by the Fremens. The Fremens worship the worms as sacred deities. These top-down socks are started by working the teeth flat in garter stitch. This tab is then joined in the round and the sock is picked up off the edge and worked in ribbing showcasing the Shai-Hulud body. Pattern has a garter edge heel flap with reverse stockinette gusset and gored toe to resemble the end of the worm. Pattern is meant to look like the worm is devouring your leg as it does the spice harvesters…and anything that moves.
