Setting the stage
Setting the stage is a fitting name for this crescent shaped shawl as you are constantly increasing in rows of Stockinette stitches to then finally setting the stage to a spectacular, yet easily knitted lace border.
Blocked size: Span of 84” in the bottom lace section, 17” in height, including the 4” height lace portion.
The pattern is written and has a lace chart.
Use up your stash or knit from a knit kit, either way you will thoroughly enjoy this project~
Yarn:
Used here a brand new color way called “Heartbeat” in the Yarnology skein with 7 changes in colors, textures and weight in 34 yards each portions. 238 yards in total.
Plus 2 skeins of Organic cotton, a DK weight for the lace section. 125 yards a skein.
Knit kits are available at Yarnz2go
Alternatively use C1 - C8 in 34 yards each and 7 portions in varying colors and weights:
C1 - sport red
C2 - DK cinnamon
C3 - fingering multi color
C4 - worsted red/brown
C5 - sport coral
C6 - sport brown
C7 - sport red
C8 - 140 yards of sport weight yarn for the lace in red
Notions:
US size 10 (6 mm) circular needle 40” (101 cm) in length
23 Stitch markers (trust me, you want them)
Darning needle or crochet hook for finishing
Gauge:
You may need a larger needles size, as I am a loose knitter. A gauge swatch will reassure you of the needle size needed.
13 sts and 19 rows in 4” of Stockinette stitch, unblocked.
Level of Expertise: Adventurous Beginner/Intermediate
Enjoy this pretty shawl!
