Sesen Lotus Flower Hat
The lotus motif, also known as Sesen, is found throughout Egypt, on pillars, in tombs, on thrones & headdresses of the divine, the Pharaohs. It’s the symbol of the sun, rebirth & creation as it closes at night and sinks below the water and rises and reopens at dawn. The lotus is the main motif of this hat, surrounded by swirls at the brim representing coils of rope (I just liked the way they look, actually used as counting markers) and at the top is the Ankh, symbol of eternal life, and holds the ‘breath of life’ needed in the afterlife. Maybe the hat will bring luck or just make the wearer fashionable…
