Inspired by the gorgeous orange leaves and scrumptious yarns on display at last year’s Rhinebeck, this shawl will give you that peak foliage look the whole year round. An intuitive traditional lace leaf pattern narrows into a unique trapezoid shape, and since it’s widest at the bottom, each row is shorter and faster than the last. Knit with big needles and worsted weight yarn, this project is quick enough to finish in a weekend or two. Just enough extra warmth for those first afternoons of autumn, and colorful to brighten away the impending winter blahs. Wear it on a crisp, clear day. Eat an apple and crunch leaves underfoot.

Skills required: the basics of lacemaking - increases, decreases, and yarn-overs.
