SEOLTA PULLOVER
Let your imagination set sail with this whimsical nautical pullover! Enjoy the rhythm of the motif, as the boats appear to bop upon the water whilst you knit them, their sails full and flags a-flutter in the breeze.
The adult version of the Seolta design is suitable for DK weight yarns. It offers several options for the overall silhouette and the collar, allowing for a look that can be as playful or as conservative as you like.
The mini version of the Seolta design is sized for infants and children, and is suitable for fingering to sport weight yarns. Knit it with a short open collar, or with a full sailor collar for maximum maritime adorableness.
Seolta is pronounced ‘shol-tah,’ and means ‘sails’ in Irish Gaelic.
Note: After you purchase the pattern, there are 2 separate files available to download. The Seolta and the Seolta Mini are separate patterns. Both are included with this purchase.

NOTES ON YARN SELECTION
Select only steekable yarns. Typically, such yarns have the following properties: They are 100% wool, non- superwash, and woollen-spun. If the yarn is described as ‘suitable for felting’ by the manufacturer, this is a good indicator that it is steekable. If unsure about your yarn’s suitability, swatch in the round and cut open to observe whether the yarn is sufficiently stable.
NOTES ON PROCESS/ DIFFICULTY LEVEL
The colourwork aspect of this design is easy and quick. The boats are intuitive, easy to memorise, and addictive. The construction is also simple; there is no increasing or decreasing involved while you work the chart. The ‘faff’ comes after the colourwork is done. Sleeves are grafted into the armholes. And the base of the collar is knitted-on to the edging vertically. These processes are not difficult, and the pattern describes them step-by-step in detail. However they might be unfamiliar to some knitters, so I just wanted to make you aware of what is involved! If you are accustomed to top-down circular yoke colourwork, this is a different process.
