Due to changes to EU legislation with regard to Value Added Tax liability from 1st January 2015 I have decided to temporarily suspend pattern sales until it becomes clear what the best option for me will be. I will also be using this opportunity to develop some new patterns, revise layouts, make any amendments and take some new photos. I haven’t set a date for reopening my Ravelry store but it’s unlikely to be before early summer 2015. If you’d like to be notified when I reopen send my a personal message and I’ll add you to a list for earburning when I reopen.

This pattern was designed following a flash fiction competition on the From Darcy to Dionysus blog. One of the prizes was the opportunity to name a specially designed pattern and this was won by the talented Sophie Moss - an author who writes magical romantic fiction. She has just completed (April 2013) a trilogy of books featuring selkies hence the name of the pattern.

This pattern features a beaded knitted on lace border and a stocking stitch body. The main body of the shawl is shaped in with two spokes rather than a single central spine and additional increases on the edge to form three triangles.

The photos were taken by Meg McNulty of From Darcy to Dionysus on a cold beach in Northumbria, UK and you can find out more about the photo shoot on her blog.

Note This pattern was updated on 28th May 2013. If you have an earlier version please check your library, email or messages for the update link.
