Self-Striping Socks
It’s easy to spin self-striping yarns by Navajo-plying the singles, but what if your fiber just doesn’t want to be spun that fine? Kathleen Taylor spun a two-ply self-striping yarn and knitted a basic sock pattern for colorfully functional socks. She divided the roving into its component colors, then spun a slightly thick-and-thin yarn for a pair of fraternal twin socks. The yarn has a tweedy effect where the yarn changes color gradually.
