Second Star to the Right Shawl
Inspired by the classic line from J.M. Barrie’s ‘Peter Pan,’ this easy crochet pattern works up quick into a lovely starry-like backdrop with two filet crochet stars. Using a colorburst colorway and by combining basic stitches with some chart work,
this crochet shawl can be completed with a little bit of faith, trust, and … well, we don’t really recommend any pixie dust.
Yarn: 1 skein of Wonderland Yarns “Queen of Hearts MCN” fingering weight, 80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere,
10% nylon: 420 yards/4 oz skein; shown on ‘Wishing on a Shooting Star’ colorburst
ALTERNATIVE: Use 2 skeins for a larger shawl
Hooks & Notions: US F-5/3.75 mm crochet hook, stitch markers, yarn needle, blocking pins & mats
Gauge: : 4” x 4” = 19 double crochet x 11 rows (unblocked)
Measurements: 1 sk variation: before blocking - 33” across top edge, 18.5” across beginning edge; after (aggressive) blocking - 39”
across top edge, 22.5” across beginning edge
Difficulty: Easy
** Please note: Colorbursts are not all made equal and can result in longer burst sections! This can make your yardage needed for the shawl shorter on occassion! We recommend adding extra filet stitches toward the end of the shawl, or not puffing the entire burst part. **
