Season of Darkness and Winter Light
Pattern is named “The Darkness and Light of Winter” in The Knitter magazine
From the book’s description:“The jacket is knitted in two different yarns. The lower border, front- and sleeve-bands are knitted back and forth in cable and lace patterns with 3-ply Strikkegarn. The sleeves and body front and back are knitted in the round in a leaf pattern with Finull yarn - from the wrist to the center front and from and back to the center back (sic). The two parts are knitted together at the center back afterwards. The bands on both the body and sleeves are lined with figured velvet.
- This is the pattern featured on the cover of the book.
- Two sizes are provided 47.25 inches (120cm) and 52 inches (132cm).
- Seven to eight skeins of Strikkegarn in charcoal gray are required and four skeins each of two colors of Finull; gray tweed and gray-blue.
- Printed velvet in a piece 60 inches (150cm) wide and 27.5 inches (70cm) long is needed for lining the body and sleeve bands. 24 inches (60cm) of interfacing are also required.
- Additional gauge information for the finer yarn and the pattern stitches is also provided.
- Row gauge is critical for this pattern as it will determine the overall width of the garment and the length of the sleeves.
