Seashore Poncho
A super-cosy, super-chunky/super-bulky poncho to wrap up in for that walk by the sea, on a sandy seashore! It’s like being wrapped in a blanket! Moss stitch sections, (USA seed stitch), and stocking/stockinette stitch sections combine to make a modern, textured look.
Just right for that walk by the sea!
SKILLS
The pattern is easy - skills needed are cast/bind on and off, and knit and purl. Suitable for a confident beginner, or a relaxing knit while you watch tv, or natter with friends. Instructions are written line by line, in English with British/USA terms, plus photos and diagrams to help with sewing up.
SIZE
Measurements – all approx. -
To fit small to large adult – approx. 76cm/30in – 112cm/44in chest, (possibly even larger as there’s a lot of stretch in it).
Laid flat - 91cm/36in at widest point.
71cm/28in deep, from centre top to lower point.
Length from neck edge to the edge just past the elbow – 51cm/20in.
(Photos show the poncho modelled on UK size 8, US size 4, chest 81cm/32in.)
MATERIALS
• 11 x 50g balls of Drops Snow Unicolour, 50m/55yds per 50g ball - Colour Off White – 01 - Yarn Group E. You may like to buy an extra ball just to be sure, as the actual amount used is nearly all 11 balls.
Actual amounts used approx. 548g/548m/603yds
Most super-chunky/super-bulky yarns, that have a recommended needle size of 9mm, should work well with this pattern, although amounts may vary and please check your tension/gauge. (I have gone up a size from the recommended needle size for this yarn, so that the resulting fabric is more fluid and hangs better.)
• 10mm (UK000 – US15) single point knitting needles.
• A large/tapestry needle.
