Scrap Yarn Mouse
A quick and easy mouse made from left over yarn!
All you need is 25 to 30 yards of medium, bulky or super bulky yarn, that’s it!
You’ll need:
Yarn- at least 25 yards in medium, bulky or super bulky weight
Scissors
Crochet hook-- 3.25/3.5mm (medium) 3.5/4mm (bulky) 4/4.5mm (super bulky)
Eyes-- I used 6mm safety eyes but you can use beads, buttons (extra small) or thread/yarn to make a french knot-- NOTE careful with the super bulky, some eye options will go straight through stitch spaces.
Stuffing (fiber fill or scraps of yarn)
Thread-- for creating noses, to help sew pieces on, or for whiskers
Glue (optional)-- for those that can’t stand to sew and would rather glue pieces on, or for attaching eyes.
Choice of hanging device (for hanging ornament)- ribbon, wire, thread, yarn, etc
The pattern for each weight is given below, followed by assembly instructions- which apply to all three patterns. The beauty of this pattern is that you don’t have to create all of the body parts! You can create the body, ears and tail and still have an adorable mouse. So if you run out of yarn for making feet and paws, NO WORRIES!
Photos are for the medium weight pattern but can easily be adapted to the other weights since they will all have similar shape just not the same stitch count.
I also included options for large ears or small ears for your mouse. Have fun, make it your own, and happy hooking!
