Scandia Vest
This knit vest with simple shaping is easy enough for a beginner. Worked on size 13 needles using my lovely thick-and-thin Hand-dyed Scandia wool yarn. It is worked in one piece to underarms, then divided for fronts and back. No seaming! The shoulders are worked together using a 3-needle bind-off, which is explained in the pattern.
Sizes: Finished underarm measurements (buttoned) are 38 (43, 46.5, 51.5, 54.75).“ Length: 18 (20, 22, 23, 24)”.
Materials: Hand-dyed “Scandia” yarn (100% Wool, 62 yards; 4 oz skein) by Bonkers Handmade Originals: 4 (5, 6, 7, 7) skeins; shown in Indian Summer. 29” (or longer) circular knitting needle size 13 US or whatever size needed to get correct gauge. Three 1.25” toggle buttons; stitch holders and markers; spare needle (the same size) for 3-Needle Bind-off. Optional: Shorter circular needle or straight needles for after piece is divided for fronts and back.
Gauge: 12 sts to 5” and 16 rows to 4” in St st.
Stitches used: Stockinette Stitch, Garter Stitch, M1 (make 1), SSK (slip, slip, knit), and 3-needle bind-off. These are all explained in the pattern.
