SAOIRE SHAWL
…………………………….
Our memories of being on holiday are not limited to images, sounds, and scents. They can
also be richly tactile. And it was this idea of textural nostalgia that I sought to capture
with Saoire (pronounced ‘seerah’) - which means holidays, or vacation, in Irish.

The idea came to me as I worked on the design on a camping trip in County Sligo. Feeling the textured motif with my fingers, I imagined wearing the shawl once I were back home and being transported to my little tent in the dunes, through the magic of touch and memory. A tactile snapshot of that indescribable west of Ireland summer holidays feeling, to bring comfort year round.

In addition to written instructions, this pattern is fully charted, including the shaping sections.

Instructions offer the options of a shawl, or a charming kerchief-hat.
