Sanguine Hat & Cowl
Stitches swirl like magic around this bulky set. A squishy fabric is created by working into single crochets in a slightly different way, causing the stitches to pop to the surface of the fabric. The hat and cowl are worked flat, and instructions are provided for a seamless-looking finish.

Finished Size Hat: 18 (20, 22)“ circumference and 9 (10, 11)” from crown to brim. Cowl: 24” circumference and 12” tall.
Yarn Universal Yarn Uptown Super Bulky (100% anti-pill acrylic; 87 yd 80 m/3 ½ oz 100 g): #428 Lavender, 5 balls.
Hook Size M/13 (9 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
Notions Stitch markers (m); yarn needle.
Gauge 11 sts and 11 rows = 4” in patt, blocked.

This hat requires two balls of yarn; the cowl requires three balls of yarn.

Slip stitches are at the top of hat. All single crochets are worked in the back bar only unless otherwise stated.

Place stitch markers in beginning chains at top of hat to help identify where to thread yarn to cinch top of hat.
