Sanguine is another word for optimistic, and it is the feeling I wanted to create through the colors and motif of this blanket. It isn’t easy to stay hopeful in the face of a difficult situation, but surrounding ourselves with beautiful colors can helpl.

There are two methods for making Sanguine. The first is to work it in strips using intarsia and sew the striped together. This is the method used to create the photographed sample.

The second method is modular with no sewing. It starts with the Crosses, which are joined using squares worked in the round.

The pattern of course includes written instructions and step-by-step illustrations for both methods. Also included are links to the coloring page, video tutorials, and optional charts.
