3-Color Version Pattern Information
One size: 184 cm / 72½” wide x 39.5 cm / 15½” deep
Yarn: Orkney Angora St. Magnus DK (DK weight; 50% angora, 50% wool; 200m / 218 yds per 50 g ball)
Shades:
A: Sage; 2 balls
B: Light Olive; 2 balls
C: Dark Olive; 1 ball
Gauge: 26 sts & 29 rows = 10 cm / 4” over stitch pattern
Needles: 3.5 mm / US 4 circular needle, 150 cm (60”) length
Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.
Notions: Tapestry needle
Notes: For this version, cast on 431 sts (or desired multiple of 11 sts plus 2). Using yarn A, work Section 1 until this ball of A has been used up, ending with row 2. Change to yarn B and work Section 2 until this ball of yarn has been used up, ending with row 2. Repeat Sections 1 and 2 once more and then Section 1 only once more, in the following color sequence: C, B, A. Colors can be arranged however you like. A five-shade sequence of A, B, C, D, E would be lovely with a gradient color pattern.
2 Color Version Pattern Information
One size: 216 cm / 85” wide x 33 cm / 13” deep
Yarn A: BC Garn Soft Silk (sport weight; 100% bourette silk; 350 m / 382 yds per 100 g skein) Shade: ss11; 4 skeins
Yarn B: BC Garn Tussah Tweed (light fingering weight; 100% tussah silk; 250 m / 273 yds per 50 g skein) Shade: tt10; 4 skeins
Gauge: 24 sts & 34 rows = 10 cm / 4” over stitch pattern on 3.5 mm / US 4 needles after blocking.
Note: The gauge above is accurate for a swatch, but the yarn and stitch pattern allow the shawl to be blocked firmly to the larger measurements given
Needles: 3.5 mm / US 4 circular needle, 150 cm (60”) length
Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.
Notions: Tapestry needle
Notes: This piece is worked lengthwise meaning the stitches cast on at the beginning determine how wide it will be. The number of rows you knit determines the depth. If you wish to modify the width of the piece, use a multiple of 11 stitches plus 2 and follow the chart as instructed.
