The Sandhills Tank Top is knitted from the bottom up and in the round – so there are no side seams and no stitches to pick up. Sometimes, I just love an easy project where I can sit back, relax and let the soothing rhythm of the stitches do all the work.

This tank top was the perfect antidote to a stressful few weeks – so lovely to pick up and put down without having to worry about where I was or what row I was on.

For some of you, this will be a fab knit that comes together in a week or two. For others, it’s one to plan ahead – a lovely project to knit in the winter with summer in mind, imagining how cool and comfortable you’ll feel in your finished top.

CONSTRUCTION
The back and front are knitted in the round in one piece from the bottom up, then divided to knit the back and then the front in rows. There are no edges to pick up.

TECHNIQUES USED
Knitting in the round and rows, cast on, knit, purl, cast off. Joining shoulder seams. Optional but recommended to create the feeling of joy when joining your pieces: three needle cast off.

SUGGESTED KNITTING NEEDLES

80cm length for first three sizes & 100cm for last two sizes.

GAUGE (tension)
20 stitches and 34 rows to 10cm/4ins square over pattern. I obtained this gauge with 4mm needles.
It is important to obtain the correct gauge so do work a swatch before you start the pattern and change your needle size to achieve the correct gauge if you need to.
