A Continental cast-on begins the mitten and the cuff is worked in the "fishtail" pattern. The hand is worked in the Kassikäpakiri or cat's paw pattern and finishes with a one-wick decrease. The thumb is worked in a simpler, diamond-shaped design and finishes with a two-wick decrease. I chose these two endings because each works best with the pattern below it.
