Sammy the Succulent is a cute, kawaii style plant. Perfect as a gift or to simply admire on a shelf, Sammy is a versatile pattern that can be made in any colour and with extra leaves can become a fuller plant too.

Sammy is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in US (American) terms. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.

Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished items. My Sammy is approx. 13cm tall (5 inches).

You will receive one PDF file which requires software like Adobe Reader to open (this is free to download).

You will need:

• 2.75mm hook/C-2 (US)
• 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted > 50g yarn in LIGHT COLOUR and GREEN, less than 50g yarn in DARK COLOUR and BROWN
• BLACK 4ply yarn or embroidery thread
• Scissors
• A pair of 7.5mm plastic safety eyes
• Tapestry needle
• Polyester toy stuffing
• Stitch marker (optional)

Notes:

• Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
• When changing colour, yarn over the new colour and pull through on the stitch prior.
• Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
• For this pattern, the following yarns were used: o LIGHT COLOUR = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 453 Ballet Pink o DARK COLOUR = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 454 Blush Pink o GREEN = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 425 Pistachio Green o BROWN = Bendigo Woollen Mills 8ply cotton in 887 Latte
• I have used plastic safety eyes for this pattern but you may choose to embroider. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
