Notes on Sizing

The fit of the sweater is oversized which means that 20 cm (8 in) of positive ease have been incorporated into the fit. The Bust Circumference shown is for the finished garment. Measure your bust circumference and add 20 cm (8 in) to this measurement to determine what size you should knit. The finished garment length measurements are given as guidelines. Try the slipover on to make sure the body length is to your liking before binding off. You can always add an extra couple of rounds for a longer fit.

Notes on Construction

The slipover is knit from the top down with no seaming. First the neckband is knit in 1x1 rib to double the length required. It’s then folded down and knit together with the cast-on edge to create a double thick neckband. From here short rows are worked at the same time as the shoulder increases to shape the neck. Once the shoulder increases have been completed, the shoulder stitches are bound off and the slipover is worked flat, first across the back and then across the front. Increases are made at the underarm to create a boxy fit across the fullest part of the bust. The body is finished with a 1x1 ribbed hem that is bound off using the tubular method. The armholes are finished off by picking up stitched around the opening that is worked in 1x1 rib to double the length and then sewn down to create a double thick ribbed trim that matches the neckband.
