Samara
by Birdy Evans
This gracefully rippling scarf is reminiscent of seed pods falling from maple trees. Those seed pods are called Samara.
The scarf is knit in two parts and grafted so the lace pattern is mirrored on both ends.
It is a great project for a beginning lace knitter with a bit of experience under his or her belt, as the yarn and needles sizes are easy on the eyes, but with every stitch decrease known to knitters thrown in too. It’s also a good exercise in grafting lace.
The pattern stitch is from Barbara Walkers dayflower lace stitch, with modification.
