Spotting the strong turquoise of a fragment of rope or fishing net poking out between the greys and browns of shingle or sand is a very strong image for me when I think about the sea shore.
The skein of yarn that inspired this shawl brought back that exact memory so I set about creating something that recalled the nets of the fishermen who used to keep their boats on our land in the salmon season.
The result is a very lacy shawl combining yarn overs and cables.
