Salad Days
This light and frothy crescent shawl in two sizes (petite/tall) begins at the lower edge with a frill of lace and progresses through a series of patterns that alternate between openwork and solid garter stitch to the upper edge. The easy to work patterns make for quick knitting as does the “pi” construction, with cleverly placed decrease rows that reduce the stitch count all at once. Shown in a two-color arrangement, the knitter could easily add a third shade or work it in a single color—the design lends itself nicely to gradient colorways as well.
Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size and drape.
sample is shown in Bare Naked Wools Hempshaugh Fingering (color Buckwheat; gray) with Dragonfly Fibers Dance Rustic Silk, colorway Endive.
