An asymmetrical, triangular shawl. You’ll want to make this shawl over and over again. It’s easy, but engaging at the same time. It’s adaptable to any yarn because you start at one end and keep going until you run out of yarn. The bias fabric has great drape, and the triangle reminds me of a sail. I love the idea of being reminded of the sailboats going up and down the river where I live.

Substitute yarn. Any yarn can be used for this pattern, the needle size should be larger than what is recommended on the label to create a looser gauge than recommended and a nice drape to the fabric.

Approximate Size (using 700yds of fingering weight yarn) Unblocked 49in/125.5cm wingspan, 20in/51cm deep. Blocked 62in/157.5 wingspan, 28in/71 deep.

Pattern notes You start at one end with 3 stitches and work the pattern until you have enough yarn remaining to bind off. The first 50 rows set up the pattern for the scalloped borders, the simple lace body design, and I-cord edgings. After that, 6 rows are repeated until you finish with an I-cord bind-off. The lace pattern is written, no chart is needed, only K2tog, YO, SL and PSSO are used and they are explained in the stitch glossary. If you have not done I-cord edgings or an I-cord bind-off before, you will be surprised at how easy they are.
