Rutherford Vest
Head into fall and winter with this classic argyle vest. With both a v-neck and round neck option, it looks great worn over shirt and collar or long sleeved t-shirt and under a jacket. The design is gender neutral with sizes from XS to 6X. This versatile addition to your wardrobe is easy to make and easy to wear.
The vest is worked bottom up, in pieces and seamed. The argyle motifs and cross-hatching can be worked using the intarsia technique or added later with duplicate stitch. Stitches picked up around the armholes and neckline are worked in a ribbed edging.
#sizeinclusive to a 68.5” / 174 cm finished chest measurement.
This knitting pattern includes written directions, charts for intarsia motifs, front and back images, detailed schematics for each size with measurements.

Substitution Notes
Choose a smooth, heavy worsted weight yarn in solid colours. Original is 100% wool that works up at 4.5 to 5 sts per inch (2.5 cm) on 4 to 5 mm (US 6-8) needles. Wools and wool blends will substitute well. Plant fibre blends and acrylics may also work well. The best way to know is to swatch!
Knit Picks Wool of the Andes (affiliate) would be the perfect substitution for this now discontinued yarn.
Techniques
Increases/decreases, intarsia worked from a chart, duplicate stitch worked from a chart, English tailored shoulders, worked flat, basic sweater construction, seaming.
