This is a pattern for a fairly long wingspan crescent shaped shawlette. The bottom is complimented by a lovely lace stitch that adds a wonderfully feminine finish to this piece. In addition, the bottom is also enhanced with beads, which are optional, of course. The shawlette measures 62 inches at the widest points across the top and is 15 inches deep at the deepest point. It is knit with a heavy fingering weight yarn on a size #6 (U.S.)/4.00mm needle. I have shown it in the pictures in just a couple of the many ways that it can be worn.
This pattern is Charted ONLY.
There are also directions contained within the pattern to make it larger and for how to add beads, both B-K and
B-P
The Edging Stitch comes to us from Canada and the creative mind of Annie Maloney, while the focal stitch is a simple knit purl stitch.
Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of lace edgings, and adding beads, if you want them).
The shawl was knit with Malabrigo’s Arroyo Yarn, in Polar Morn. The beads in the sample are Japanese Toho Beads size #8, in color #460, which is the only metallic purple bead that I can think of, and metallic beads are heavier than most Japanese beads.
The shawl was expertly test knitted by Mimi Sevimli who can be contacted at, karal3@ yahoo.com.
