Runaround Raglan
Errata: In the section titled “Sleeves” on pg. 4 of the pattern, the beginning of the second paragraph should read “You should now have a total of 36 (42, 50, 56) stitches.”
This top-down raglan knit in worsted-weight yarn, which features mirrored cables running in between the raglan increases and down the sides of the body, includes instructions for both the cardigan and pullover versions.
The four sizing options range from a 22” to a 30” chest measurement, perfect for the majority of one- to five-year-olds. Because it is worked from the top down, it is easy to adjust the size and length for a perfect fit.
Techniques used include knitting in the round, the make one (lifted) increase, basic cabling, and picking up stitches. The pullover is knit entirely in the round, the cardigan body is knit flat and sleeves knit on double-pointed needles.
The pattern is written as a “learning” pattern, with the needs of less experienced knitters in mind, so if you have not done this type of sweater construction before, I’ve tried to include instructive tips to help you through the process.
This pattern is intended for personal, non-commercial use. If you are interested in producing garments from this pattern for sale, I’d be happy to discuss a licensing arrangement!
