Run
Run is the eighth design of my Einaudi Collection, designs inspired by the musical works of Ludovico Einaudi. Run starts as a delicate and sparse piece of simple, atmospheric phrases. These gradually combine into more complex melodies and as the complexity increases, the music develops runs of melody that radiate from a powerful, repetitive chord pattern. The colourwork designs are inspired by this musical structure.
CONSTRUCTION
This garment is worked top-down, in the round. After the neckband, short row shaping is incorporated to optimise fit. The majority of the yoke features a stranded colourwork pattern. Once the yoke is completed, stitches are separated into body and sleeves, which are each worked separately and in the round. The colourwork pattern continues in the upper body and sleeves. After the colourwork is complete, the remainder of the body is worked in stockinette and finished with half-twisted ribbing. The remainder of the sleeves are also worked in stockinette with a small band of colourwork above the sleeve cuffs. Cuffs are worked in half-twisted ribbing to match the neckband and waistband.
SIZING GUIDE
This garment is graded into sizes 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9, 10). Recommended positive ease is 2-8” / 5-20 cm at the chest circumference.

SAMPLE
The wearer is 5’10” / 178 cm with a 37” / 92.5 cm chest circumference. The sample has been worked in size 4, giving the wearer 7” / 17.5 cm of positive ease at the chest. To allow for the height of the wearer, an extra 1.5” / 4 cm of length has been worked into the body and sleeves and yoke depth has been extended by 0.5” / 1.5 cm.
GAUGE
Using 3.25 mm / US size 3 needles, or needle size required to meet gauge, 26 stitches over 34 rounds in both stockinette stitch and colourwork, wet blocked, creates a 4x4” / 10x10 cm square.
YARN
The sample has been worked using Miss La Motte Yarn’s Merino / Linen base (83.3% Superwash Merino / 16.7% Linen; 375 m / 410 yds per 100 g) in colourways Ibis as the Main Colour and Frosted Foliage as the Contrast Colour.
