Simple lace, short repeats, beautiful results - Rudimentary is a cowl that beginners will find approachable and seasoned knitters will find meditative. A cowl for all seasons, an impressive gift. Easier than it looks - a great introduction to the fundamentals of lace knitting, with plenty of soothing stockinette. Ideal for early morning commutes or walking the dog, Rudimentary is practical and wearable, while adding a touch of flair and coziness to any outfit.

This cowl relies on simple lace motifs to create unique sections that provide visual interest. All yarn-over increases have paired decreases, and every other round is a rest round, making this an ideal project for beginner lace knitters. It is recommended that you choose a yarn that has a nice twist to it to increase stitch definition, and swatching is important for not only gauge but also look, feel, and drape! You may need to go down 1 or 2 needle sizes if you’re using smooth, tightly spun sock yarn, or for poofier fibers.

This pattern includes written instructions and charts, and has been fully test knitted and professionally tech edited! Small mistakes may still have slipped by us, so if you have any trouble or spot any problems please email me as soon as possible at KaceyKnits@gmail.com and include the pattern name in the subject!
