Royal Voluntary Service 80th Anniversary Dolls
I am delighted to be working with LoveKnitting to celebrate Royal Voluntary Service’s 80th anniversary.
Founded in 1938 as the Women’s Voluntary Service, to help civilians during WW2, Royal Voluntary Service is one of the largest volunteering organisations in British history. Over the last 80 years it has inspired and enabled more than three million ordinary men and women to give the gift of voluntary service to meet the needs of the day. Today that’s helping older people live happy and healthier lives and supporting the NHS. Royal Voluntary Service’s army of 25,000 volunteers support more than 100,000 people each month at home, in hospital and in the community.
To mark the 80th anniversary and help raise funds for Royal Voluntary Service, I am excited to have designed this pair of Bitsy Baby volunteer dolls. These dolls are very quick and easy to knit and make up. The bodies and heads are knitted in one piece, and after seaming and stuffing the legs are created by sewing a seam through from front to back. The arms, clothes and numerals are knitted separately and are sewn on when making up these cute little characters
All proceeds from the sale of the pattern will go to support the vital work of Royal Voluntary Service. You could also sell your creations to raise money and make a donation directly to the charity.
