Rowland Rownd
Here’s a friend for Harold Fatmus.
Rowland is knit in the round, the base is knit flat separately and then sewn on. The beak is knit separately and sewn on. The design is made with stranded knitting technique and the top of the owl is seamed with a three needle bind off. Rowland is knit on 3mm and 3.25mm DPNs or long circular for magic loop. The smaller sized needles are only used for a couple of plain rounds, if you don’t have that size it won’t be a disaster if you use the larger size all the way through!
The finished size is approx 18cm high, the pattern uses Miniballs in 5 colours, or approx 50m of 4ply in 5 colours. The sample is shown in Hawthorn (the owl colour), Jaffa (eye/beak colour), silver (background jumper colour), Iris (foreground jumper colour) and Confetti (rib colour).
The fair isle design is charted and includes decreases. The decrease rows are also written out.
We have this design available as a kit on our website.
