Rotini Skirt
by Gina Wilde
The skirt is worked from side to side and shaped with short rows. Each stripe begins with a curl, which is worked with short rows.
Color exercise -- studying mutual complementary colors
Skill level -- intermediate
Other materials needed: stitch markers, stitch holders, tapestry needle, sewing thread and needle, 1 yard (1 meter) 5/3” elastic
“Knit from side to side with one color at a time, the skirt is given immense flair when short rows come into play, making each color rise up off of the striped ground. The nature of the short rows makes each stripe spiral, culminating in a curl at the skirt’s flirty hem.”
