Cape Breton has a truly rich heritage of Celtic music with many world-class artists who hail from this uniquely beautiful corner of Canada.

The Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) Trail is approximately 100 km (62 miles) of gorgeousness that runs along the west coast of Cape Breton, overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The tiny community of Inverness is found at its heart … wild roses abound, and so… the Rose of Inverness.

Pattern Format Note: This pattern contains both the individual files for the original Mystery KAL and the full version of the Rose of Inverness pattern (v1.1 uploaded Aug 29, 2019).

Pattern Notes
Complimentary cable elements create a beautifully textured, circular blanket that finishes with a cabled I-cord edge. Worked from the centre outward, in the round, this pattern begins with Emily Ocker’s Cast On. This cast on allows the tail yarn to be pulled tight, all but eliminating the hole at the centre.

Needles
3.5mm / US4 needles for small circumference knitting or 3 sizes smaller than gauge needle.
4.5mm / US7 needles for small circumference knitting or size required to obtain gauge.
4.5mm / US7 circular needles 24” / 61cm, 32” / 80cm and 60” / 152.5cm long.

Notions
3.5mm (E) crochet hook for cast on, 2 cable needles, stitch marker (one required but you can use 7 additional markers if you wish); tapestry needle.

This was the pattern for the Rose of Inverness Mystery KAL held in the Impeccable Knitters Gathering Place Ravelry group beginning Jan 17, 2019. Our adventure took us along the famously beautiful Ceilidh Trail, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Each of the Mystery KAL threads has a musical treat tucked into it.
