Construction notes: The Rosalind Sweater is a romantic garment, knit seamlessly top down. It has a classic silhouette with set-in sleeves, which are shaped with Short rows. The yoke features a twisted ribbing pattern, that adds texture and depth to the romantic and light feel of the garment. Delicately ribbed edges with a picot bind-off finish the straight sleeves and a contrasting bow adds a special touch to this wardrobe staple. Both body and sleeve lengths are easily adjustable.

Inspiration: This pattern was inspired by Rosalind Franklin.
Rosalind (1920 – 1958) was a British chemist and X-ray crystallographer. She researched the structure of human DNA and made groundbreaking discoveries. Two male colleagues used her research findings without Rosalind’s knowledge and received the Nobel Prize in Medicine for a three-dimensional DNA model. Without shame, the competing scientists claimed to have acquired Rosalind’s results – no one took offense at that time.
Rosalind also researched the spread of viral diseases and is recognized today as one of the most significant scientists of the 20th century.

regarding the recognition of women’s achievements in science and the workplace,
we still struggle against prejudices, pay gaps, and stereotypes.
