Rocket Mittens
A frozen confectionary genius changed popsicles forever by stacking 3 flavors on top of each other to make a totally delicious treat. Now you can stack 3 colors (and add some contrasting dots) to give your hands a treat of their own. With 2 length options & all the colors of the rainbow, these mittens/mitts will put a smile on everyone’s face!
Finished Size
7 (8, 9, 10) ”17.5 (20, 22.5, 25) cm hand circumference and 10.5 (11.5, 12.75, 13.75)” 26 (29, 32, 34.5) cm in total length (including cuff).
Needles
Size 0 (2.0 mm): double point needles (dpn) Or other needles preferred for small circumference knitting.
Notions
Markers (m); tapestry needle.
Yarn
Leading Men Showstopper mini skeins (75% Superwash Merino & 25% Nylon; 92 yd 84 m/1 oz 20 g)
Full Mitten shown in: Sashay Away (A), Sand Castle (B), Rubescent (C), Poseidon (D).
Fingerless Mitt shown in: Smell My Feet (A), Spritely Endeavors (B), Seaweed (C), Shadows in Trees (D).
Gauge
36 sts & 40 rows = 4” (10 cm) in charted stockinette colorwork.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain gauge.
Notes

These mittens are worked from the cuff up, incorporating a traditional thumb gusset. The hand is finished after separating the thumb stitches. Thumb stitches are then put back on the needles and worked to completion.

The chart is worked in Stockinette stitch throughout.

When choosing colors it will be helpful to know that Color A is used for the cuff and Color B is used for the little dots and transition motifs. You may find it useful to choose 3 darker colors for A, C & D and then a lighter contrast color for B (or reverse that and choose 3 lighter colors and one dark). If wanting to use a highly variegated yarn for this design it would work best as Color A, for the cuffs.
