Robin in the Leaves
Robin in the Leaves is a triangular shawl with an intriguing spine construction, and a subtle texture pattern which evolves into an unusual lace edge.
This design was inspired by The Secret Garden, and knit in a beautifully soft Yorkshire yarn of gentle leaf green. The texture in the body of the shawl forms a subtle leaf pattern, and the striking lace edging uses a stitch pattern by Naomi Parkhurst of Gannet Designs, who has cleverly encoded the word ‘rain’ into the lace, which is fitting given that rain is an integral part of any English garden.
-
The size of the shawl is adaptable: both the texture stitch and the lace can be worked to any size or yardage, and the edging can be repeated until the yarn runs out.
-
The contrasting line of catkins and buds is optional. The second colour is stranded on a single row, then slipped on following rows.
-
Pattern can be worked entirely from written pattern, or from charts with some notes.
-
Optional beading
