NEEDLES:
- US 8/5.00mm 16” circular needles
- US 8/5.00mm 24” circular needles (29” is also okay, or bigger, however you will not be joining in the round so smaller is fine too)
- US 9/5.50mm 16” circular needles
- US 9/5.50mm 24” circular needles (29” is also okay, or bigger, however you will not be joining in the round so smaller is fine too)
- 1 x US 9/5.50mm DPN (optional/ not required)
YARN:
- Used 5.5 donuts of K+C Superwash Wool Luxe in the color Pothos Vine for a size 2X - 215yds/ 197m per donut
- Will need between 900-1600yds depending on your size.
- You can use a Light Worsted (weight 3) or a Worsted weight (weight 4) yarn. K+C Superwash Wool Luxe is considered a Sport weight (weight 2) yarn however, it has more of a roving yarn structure and contains a slight halo. Use a yarn (and needles) that help you to obtain gauge.
GAUGE:
16STS x 25R = 4” x 4” (10cm x 10cm)
This pattern isn’t meant for beginners, but rather intermediate level knitters. As always, I recommend a beginner, if you are up to the challenge, then why not give it a go anyways?!
This sweater is made of 2 panels, worked bottom up, and are joined at the shoulders with a 3 needle BO method. The sides are then sewn together, and the sleeves are picked up at the armholes. There is an option to sew on the sleeves if you are not comfortable with picking up stitches. The sleeves finish with a twisted ‘1x1’ Rib to help cinch in the sleeve openings. Stitches for the collar are picked up from around the neck opening (don’t worry, I made this pretty simple), and then completed with an Italian BO method, however, a normal BO will also work.
The name “River Run” came from the stitch pattern. It reminds me of a river winding its way downhill, it’s current carrying a constant stream of water that ripples and dances over rocks, sometimes calm, other times swirling the rapids, all the while craving its path through the landscape. Absolutely love it!
