River Ripple Socks 3158
by Lucy Neatby
Have you ever fallen for a skein of hand-painted yarn? How best should you exploit every colour? The gorgeous skeins of River City’s Adam&Eve sock yarns inspired me to create this new pattern!
These socks are begun with a soft faced cuff with a decorative i-cord inspired detail. This leads into the leg pattern with cabled elongated stitches to highlight the colours in the yarn.
A 70% garter stitch short row heel is used (with smaller needles for added durability) and then the leg stitch pattern is reversed with a condensed stitch pattern for the sole, adding strength, warmth and maintaining equal row height with the instep pattern. Finished with a cozy garter stitch toe to coordinate with the heel.
