Start your holiday gift knitting early. This cowl is a quick knit, and you can go stash busting. Pick out coordinating yarns and get started.

This cowl uses the best of two yarns- the airiness of mohair and the softness of wool. Half of the cowl is simple stockinette and the other half is a 4-row lace repeat. The lace repeat is purled on the wrong side, so you only have 2 rows to follow the pattern.

Gauge is not as important as finding a tension that produces a fabric you like.

Using most of both yarns produces a cowl that can be styled in a variety of ways. Loop it with the mohair or the wool around your neck. The cowl is big enough you can loop it around your neck several times or loop it just twice and spread it out to warm your shoulders. Show off a pretty pin in the mohair section.

Malabrigo English Rose has the most delightful rose shades, and this cowl can be wrapped around your neck in many ways- hence I named it -- Ring Around the Roses.
