Ricky Robt Rug
This gray and green rug was made from t-shirt yarn. The t-shirts were cut in about ¾” strips. Cotton/polyester shirts work best but any t-shirts will do. Be careful when using the soft, stretchy yarn – I had to be careful to pull enough yarn through for the stitch rather than stretching the yarn for the stitch. The sizes of the stitches and rows will vary depending on the type of material used in the t-shirt. I used a variety of sizes of t-shirts to make the yarn so you may need more or fewer t-shirts depending on the size. I bought the t-shirts at a local thrift shop.
The red and blue robot was made using 2 strands of ww yard and a K hook. It is a little smaller and may not hold up quite as well as the version made with t-shirt yarn.
Other crochet patterns for the Home are included in this TYC e-Magazine issue, including instructions on how to make t-shirt yarn.
