A simple ribbed scarf (we won’t pretend it’s fancier), but beautifully proportioned.

We used:

1 hank in Twilight (Col. 1)
2 in Strathay (Col. 2)
1 in Ash (Col. 3)

Of which approximate amounts used:

Twilight 84g / 111m(121yds) (including fringe)

Strathay 143g / 189m(206yds)

Ash 100g / 132m(144yds)

(Where ‘approximate amount used’ is specified this includes 10% ‘wastage’, and are rounded up to the nearest gram / metre / yard.)

When measuring tension, ‘Rib relaxed’ means that after you’ve steamed your swatch and let it dry, give it a gentle shake and lay it flat. It will be contracted because of the rib structure but it should be under no tension – not stretched in any way. Measure and mark with pins your 10cm square measurement, then you can open out the ribs to count the stitches accurately.

You could use any Aran weight yarn to give you the correct tension (although the Artesano Aran does seem to be quite thick for Aran weight, perhaps it’s more of a light chunky). It is beautiful, though and soft enough to wrap around your neck and snuggle into so do please give it a go if you can.
