TRADITIONAL WELSH blankets, woven from double-cloth, are much prized for their bold patterning. Taking inspiration from these textiles, Carol Meldrum has created a cosy, modern poncho with a bright pattern in stranded colourwork. The poncho is worked as one long rectangle; stitches are picked up along each side to work the garter stitch edgings. The upper edge includes button holes, so that it can be formed into a poncho shape using buttons sewn on to the opposite section.
