I’ve always believed that our flag is one of the best in the whole world (along with that of FYR Macedonia!), and it recently struck me that its clear geometric lines and diagonals would lend themselves perfectly to being turned into a knitting pattern.

These cushion covers are constructed seamlessly, in the round, starting with a toe-up-style cast on, and working in the round right from the start.

The fun bit starts where you want to break (about two thirds of the way up the back), for the opening slit: You’ll cast off around the back, then on the next round, cast on again, to join back in the round, and work to the top of the cushion, closing the top with a Kitchener graft.
