It’s my designing anniversary. I’m celebrating 14 years with a new pattern that is free for this week. 02/16- 02/23.

In my quest for using up what I already have, I wanted to see how many mini skeins I could use to make a hat. I found out its two with a little help with some lace weight mohair yarn.

Yarn:
2 mini skeins of fingering weight yarn in contrasting colors. (40 g)
Plus 1 skein of lace weight mohair yarn held double. (50g)
Model uses Sewrella Yarn Company Nylon Sock yarn, and Knitpicks Aloft yarn.

Needles: Size 5 US 3.75mm 16 inch or larger circular needles.

Size: Adult 22 inch circumference

Notions: Yarn needle for weaving in your ends, 1 stitch marker

Gauge: 22 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches

Stitches used: SM (slip marker), k, p, ssk, k2tog.

Notes: This hat is made from the bottom to top starting with a 2x2 ribbing. The hat body is worked in the stockinette stitch switching colors every round for a fun 2 tone look. Two yarns are held double for the whole pattern. I only used one skein of the lace weight yarn, and switched the fingering colors back and forth. if it makes it easier you can use 2 different skeins of the lace weight.
