Renaissance Woman
This is a lovely, sophisticated, elegantly feminine cowl. There are pearly beads and yarn that looks like rich velvet. It reminds me of the apparel worn during the Renaissance. The yarn is luxurious. The color, called Dragon fruit, is exquisite and the “pearls” are the finishing touch.
The pattern has a large, easy-to-read chart with complete directions for working from the chart. Also included are written directions for the chart in case you don’t like using a chart. The cowl is worked in the round on size US 7/4.5mm 24”/60cm circular needles. It was fun to work and it’s not too complicated as lace goes. You’ll need 288 size 6/0 glass beads and a tiny crochet or beading tool to hook them onto the stitches. Beads are optional. Just knit the stitch if you don’t want to add a bead. Blocking is easy - just use two dowels held taut by t-pins (see photo).
Cowls are great to make for gifts. They don’t take too long and aren’t terribly expensive, using only 400 yards of fingering weight. With all of the gorgeous fingering out there, you can make a different color cowl to warm and adorn everyone you know!
